Meet Noah, Our Paralegal Intern

Since 2019, Oasis has hosted undergraduate paralegal interns during fall and spring semesters to work directly with our clients under legal representative supervision. They assist our staff, law student interns, and pro bono representatives in preparing asylum cases, and as interpreters. This year, we are lucky to have Noah, a fourth-year student at UC Berkeley studying Sociology, Spanish and Portuguese, and Public Policy. His experience includes studying in Mexico City and Madrid during his junior year, and he is hoping to live abroad again soon.

Our Paralegal Training Program allows us to partner with college students to help them gain experience in high impact careers. Noah is passionate about supporting queer immigrants and inspired by their strength and optimism. During their internship, our staff often become mentors for our paralegals during their internship and form close professional relationships. Through our program, Oasis expands opportunities for young advocates, and ultimately improves the lives of our clients. By showing up as their authentic selves, interns like Noah use their skills, lived experience, and perspectives to support our clients in a culturally responsive manner.

Noah is currently conducting an ethnography of the gay male experience in the Castro for his sociology honors thesis. In his free time, he enjoys running and biking across the East Bay, playing tennis, swimming, dancing, eating Trader Joe's snacks, and hanging out with his friends

If you are an undergraduate student interested in a paralegal internship, please email a resumé and cover letter to paralegalintern@oasislegalservices.org. We partner with schools to offer course credit to undergraduate students interning with us.
