Work at Oasis

Supervising Attorney

The Supervising Attorney is a new position at Oasis, and the ideal candidate is self-aware, takes initiative, and skilled at navigating power dynamics, with at least two years of experience representing clients in front of the Executive Office for Immigration Review (EOIR). We are excited to hire someone with supervisory experience who loves collaborating across programs and teams, is energized by tasks they have never done before and learning about new topics, and is able to effectively communicate complex legal topics to clients in Spanish and English, without an interpreter or translator. Does this sound like you or someone you know? Read the full job description and apply by Sunday, January 4, 2026, for priority consideration.

This full-time (35 hours per week), exempt hybrid role is based in Berkeley, CA, with the option to work from home up to two days per week. The annual salary range is $88,000 to $108,000, depending on years of experience as a licensed attorney.*

Requesting Accommodation? We want you to be able to fully participate in the hiring process and Oasis invites you to email requests to Human Resources at hiring@oasislegalservices.org.

*We believe in paying people fairly for the jobs they do at Oasis, and our compensation philosophy is based on the responsibilities and scope of the role, not the individual who happens to be filling the role or the geographic region where they happen to be doing that job, for example. Our pay scale principles are: Pay Equity, Transparency, Effective, and Sustainable. Please note that we have a negotiation-free policy in order to apply our pay scale uniformly across the organization and create internal pay equity.

Volunteer with Oasis

  • Support our clients in a variety of ways, including: limited scope representation at asylum and other administrative hearings, declaration drafting, benefits applications, preparing clients for citizenship tests, and conducting country conditions research.

Intern at Oasis

  • Oasis hosts undergraduate paralegal interns during fall and spring semesters. Paralegal interns work directly with our clients under legal representative supervision to help prepare asylum applications. They also assist our law student interns and pro bono representatives as interpreters. Oasis partners with schools to offer course credit to undergraduate students interning at Oasis. If you are an undergraduate student interested in a paralegal internship, please email a resumé and cover letter to paralegalintern@oasislegalservices.org. Spanish fluency required.

  • Oasis hosts law student interns in the summer and during fall and spring semesters. Law students have the opportunity to work directly with our clients under attorney supervision to help prepare asylum and other affirmative immigration cases, declarations and affidavits, and represent clients at their asylum interviews before USCIS. Oasis can work with the student's law school to facilitate formal externships for credit.

We are now accepting applications for our 2025 summer legal internships. To learn more and view instructions on how to apply, click here.

  • Oasis hosts social work graduate-level interns during the academic year, as part of the Master’s Degree in Social Work field placement process, which typically takes place in spring of every year. Social work graduate interns help with direct client case management work, as well as research, advocacy, and outreach to community organizations. If you are interested in joining us as an MSW intern, please consult with your academic institution to see if an Oasis MSW placement is available through them. If not, we remain interested in building new academic partnerships!

We are also currently considering interns outside of an MSW program on a rolling basis. We encourage strong applicants who are able to commit to weekly engagement with us for 4-8 months, with a passion for working with LGBTQIA+ immigrants and with fluency in Spanish, Portuguese, and/or Latin American indigenous languages to apply as soon as possible. Please consult with your academic institution regarding course credit.
